Degrees of Dimensionality


PLANE – a surface

EDGE – the circumference of a plane

ALTER EGO – another side of oneself

ABSTRACT – apart from concrete existence

NON-REPRESENTATIONAL – objects do not resemble those known in physical nature

ANTHROPOMORPHIC ABSTRACTION – imaginary personification of abstractions

GEOMETRIC ABSTRACTION – geometric forms placed in a non-illusionistic way

MASK – a covering to conceal something

LOW RELIEF – forms extend only slightly

HIGH RELIEF – project by at least half their depth

IN-THE-ROUND – working or seeing in three dimensions
